Zendaya has given us a short clip from Euphoria Season 2, and we’re extremely grateful. It’s been two years since Euphoria season 1 premiered, and nearly six months since we got any update on their characters after the series’ two-hour-long specials. This is why a 30-second-footage from the show honestly feels like a blessing.
“Happy 2 year @euphoria anniversary…see you soon:)” she wrote on Instagram alongside the video.
In the brief clip, Zendaya and Hunter Schafer are seen at their school. They’re standing in the middle of a hallway as their classmates pass by. The 30-second wordless clip finds Zendaya’s Rue grinning – which as Euphoria fans would know – is quite unlike her. So what is happening?
Last season left off with Rue attempting her best not to relapse while her best friend and love interest Schafer’s Jules tries out therapy and leaves her behind. Will season 2 see their reunion? Does Rue relapse or give in again? Sadly, the clip doesn’t give any answers.
In March, the cast returned to the sets of Euphoria with their twitter account making the announcement to the fans. Zendaya too shared several behind-the-scenes photos of her friend Alex, and costar Angus Cloud on her Instagram stories.
In an interview with InStyle magazine, Zendaya explained Euphoria season 2 as “beautiful.”
“I do miss Rue. She’s like my little sister in a lot of ways. And going back to that character is a home base for me,” the 24-year-old actress described. “There is a beautiful second season that has been written, but in order to do it the way we want to do it, we need to wait until it’s safer.”
Meanwhile, the cast of Euphoria will be seen in many other projects they are pursuing individually. Hunter Schafer recently published her drawings in an A24 book; walked Mugler; and co-wrote Euphoria’s episode centered around Jules with creator Sam Levison. As for Zendaya, the actress added a historic Emmy win to her name. She joined Timothee Chalamet for Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the sci-fi novel Dune. Then there’s the Spider-Man sequel with Tom Holland, and she’ll also provide her voice to LeBron James’s take on Space Jam.
Sydney Sweeney (Cassie) will be appearing in another HBO series, The White Lotus, as well as four other films, including one with Pete Davidson. Jacob Elordi (Nate) and will next appear in Deep Water with Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck.
There is no official date on Euphoria Season 2 yet, but as Zendaya said – we might get it soon.
