Steve Harvey Opens Up About His Thoughts on Will Smith And His Oscar Moment

The Family Feud host thinks that it was “a punk move.”

Steve Harvey, the 65-year-old television show host, recently shared his feelings towards Will Smith after his Oscars 2022 incident involving comedian Chris Rock. Apparently, the Family Feud host thinks that it was “a punk move” on the actor’s part.

Steve Harvey calls out Will Smith on his disgraceful behavior

When asked about what he thought about the Men In Black actor losing his cool and assaulting Rock, Harvey said, “On a scale of 1 to 10, I’m like a 2. That’s the level of Christianity I can work on,” Harvey told Georgia State University’s students. “You slap T.D. Jakes, he’ll turn the other cheek. You slap me? If you sit back in your seat, Jada [Will’s wife] would have to move out of the way. That’s the type of Christian I am.”

“I lost a lot of respect for him,” he added. So, it seems like Steve Harvey will not keep Will Smith in his good graces.

Will Smith’s Academy resignation and apology

As for Will Smith, the actor has resigned from the Academy stating his guilt and shame as reasons. “I have directly responded to the Academy’s disciplinary hearing notice, and I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct,” he said in the apology.

“My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film. So, I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate. Change takes time and I am committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason,” he added.

What is Steve Harvey up to these days?

On the contrary, Steve Harvey is doing much better than Will Smith when it comes to life. He was recently invited to Georgia State University to speak about legal concepts important in the entertainment industry. “I’ve always been running from my past. I spent three years living in a car. That was crushing,” he said addressing the students.

“I can’t go back to that. Someone asked me why I buy such expensive cars. I say, in case all of this goes bad and I gotta live in my car again. At least I’ll be living in a real nice [expletive] car!” he added.
