“The Suicide Squad” Trailer: Supervillains Doing The Superheros Kind Of Work

Starring childhood hero John Cena as villain

DC finally launched The Suicide Squad trailer, putting Bloodsport (Idris Elba) in limelight, as he shoots Superman with Kryptonite Bullet. The movie is written and produced by the maker of Guardian of the Galaxy, James Gunn, and can be watched on Theatres and HBO Max by August 6.

The Suicide Squad trailer starts with Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) using Bloodsport’s daughter as leverage so that he joins The Suicide Squad, and the squad can be sent to complete the task called Project Starfish. And one of the reasons why Amanda Waller uses Bloodsport’s daughter as leverage is because working with other villains is quite risky. Bloodsport, along with other villains, will be implanted with tiny bombs so that they don’t run away while she sends them on any insanely dangerous mission.

Along with other villains, fans are waiting to watch fighting scenes of Harley Quinn, which can be seen in the trailer. Another thing that the fans are eagerly waiting for is King Shark and Peacemaker’s appearance on screens, apart from in comic books.

The big alien starfish seen in the movie is Starro, Starro is among the first bad villains that Justice League fought in the books of The Brave and The Bold #28. Starro can make small duplicates of himself that can control human minds and got other powers like energy absorption, telepathy and many more.

The movie has a great cast lined up, which includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Michael Rooker as Savant, John Cena as Peacemaker, Flula Borg as Javelin, Sylvester Stallone voicing King Shark, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher2, Mayling Ng as Mongal, Sean Gunn as Weasel, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Pete Davidson as Blackguardas, Peter Capaldi as the Tinkerer, Juan Diego Botto as Presidente General Silvio Luna, Joaquín Cosío as Mayor General Mateo Suarez, Jenn Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Storm Reid as Tyla, Alice Braga as SolSoria and Nathan Fillion as T.D.K.

After this movie, Director James Gunn will return back to Marvel for the Guardian of the Galaxy, another much anticipated movie. Known for his writing and screenplay, he is also working to expand the Suicide Squad with a Peacemaker Spinoff series starring John Cena, which could hit the screen by 2022. As per Den of Geek, about John Cena’s character Peacemaker, Gunn said, “I think that the actual inspiration for Peacemaker was the s**tty 1970s Captain America TV shows that I loved when I was a child.”
