The current coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent worldwide lockdown has effectively foiled any plans of all the would-be-brides to live their dream of making their makeup artist pull off Meghan Markle’s dewy royal bridal look on their D-day. But not all is lost, not when the pro behind the Duchess of Sussex’s glowing face is himself dishing out wedding makeup tips!
In an insightful, brimming with wedding makeup tips, chat with Vogue, celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin, the one who pulled off Meghan Markle’s simply breath-taking royal-wedding look, shared some top tips for all the ladies left with no option but to do their own makeup on their big day. But don’t you worry for Martin’s wedding makeup tips are enough to ensure that you look perfect- both in-person and on the live stream video for all the guests virtually marking their presence.
- Make your skin your priority
To achieve the Meghan Markle bridal look, the first thing Martin advises is to clean the face completely and then applying a blurring primer, with a light oil-free formula. Next, use a full-coverage concealer for “knocking out” spots as well as the under-eye area and the sides of the nose. “It’s all about balancing out your skin tone,” he advised. “This isn’t the time to show off your contour skills.”
- Aim for defined brows
“Having a nice brow finishes off the eye area,” Martin said. So, gel the brow hairs back the opposite way to thicken them up and after they dry up, “brush them back to their original state and then fill in any holes” to get defined brows “without them looking too Instagram-y.”
- Pop upon your eyes up a light shimmer or color
Take your blush or bronzer and use a fluffy brush or your finger to apply it all over the lid to get a “natural contour” that “harmonizes the colors on your face.”
- A light flush on the cheeks tops Martin’s wedding makeup tips
Choose a blush shade that “doesn’t clash with your lipstick shade” and start applying it at the center of the cheek just below the pupil, while swiping outward toward the ear.
Finish the look with a setting spray BEFORE applying lipstick and oh, the best advice?- Do not lose your nerves even if you mess up for “the wedding is starting on your own time!”
