Beauty, elegance, intelligence and the zeal to make this world a better place – With these important key points in mind, 90 participants from all across the world competed in the prestigious Miss Universe 2019, which was held on 8th December, 2019 in Atlanta, USA. As always, the event was much more than just beautiful women. The intense passion and vigour of the young and ambitious ladies made the entire show an enlightening one. Hosted by Steve Harvey, here’s what you need to know about the 68th edition of this beauty pageant.
An Army Of Boss Ladies
While there were a lot of discussions about the venue of the event, it was only on October 31st this year that Atlanta was finalized for the Miss Universe 2019 pageant. This edition of the mega event saw the debuts of countries like Bangladesh and Equatorial Guinea. Meeting several criteria to be eligible to participate in this competition, women aged 20 and above put in their best efforts to become Miss Universe 2019. Among the 90 delegates, only 20 of them were chosen for the semi-finals after a series of rounds like a closed-door interview, swimsuit and evening gown round. The jury included world icons like actresses, beauty pageant winners, models, socialites and many more.
India’s Vartika At Her Best
Born in Lucknow, Vartika Singh from India participated in Miss Universe 2019. She was formerly crowned as Miss Grand India, 2015 and is also a professional model who has bagged several titles to her name such as Miss Photogenic and GQ Hottest Woman in India. With a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Singh was interested in the glamour industry from a young age. She entered as a wild card entrant in the top 20 semi-final round. Before the swimsuit round, the top 10 contestants were announced but unfortunately Vartika was not included in the list. However, in a brief interview, Vartika talked about her blissful journey in this contest and how it taught her the importance of hard work and the will to be at one’s best always.
The Top 10
By putting their best foot forward, the top 10 finalists of the show were announced later in the evening. The countries that made it to the top 10 include USA, Colombia, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Peru, Indonesia, France, Iceland, Thailand and Mexico. While these women answered the questions asked to them by the jury very smartly, the one thing that was common amongst them all was their visionary ideas and the will to be the best. Some of them are working as professionals in the corporate world while some into the fashion industry.
