Celebrating their bond, the couple has teamed up once again for a Tiffany & Co. campaign launching globally on Sept. 2, where they are putting that undeniable chemistry on full display.
And what’s more special this time?
The Grammy-winning performer has made fashion history by wearing the the iconic 128.54 carats Tiffany Diamond in the campaign, featuring one of the world’s largest yellow diamonds.
“Love is the diamond that the jewelry and art decorate,” the power couple said in a press release on Monday.
The fall 2021 ad starring Beyonce makes her only the fifth person and the first black woman ever to wear the priceless piece of jewelry.
Meanwhile, JAY-Z wears Jean Schlumberger’s legendary Bird on a Rock brooch, reconstructed as a pair of one-of-a-kind cuff links.
The Tiffany Diamond was originally unearthed in South Africa in 1877.
Since then it has been worn by Mary Whitehouse, wife of American diplomat Edwin Sheldon Whitehouse, Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn, and singer Lady Gaga.
Other notable jewels that appear in the print campaign photographed by Mason Poole and the corresponding film shot by acclaimed director Emmanuel Adjei include: a 22-carat yellow diamond ring, a 15.02-carat emerald-cut diamond ring sourced from Botswana and an 18-carat yellow and rose gold bracelet.
Beyonce and JAY-Z’s shoot is the first time the diamond has been featured in an advertising campaign, Tiffany’s said in the press release.
“Beyonce and JAY-Z are the epitome of the modern love story. As a brand that has always stood for love, strength and self-expression, we could not think of a more iconic couple that better represents Tiffany’s values,” Alexandre Arnault, EVP of product and communications, says in a statement. “We are honored to have the Carters as a part of the Tiffany family.”
While the Tiffany film featuring Beyonce and JAY-Z with a performance of “Moon River” will release on Sept. 15 on the jewelry brand’s website, as a part of the campaign, the singer has shared with her fans a few glimpses.
One shot shows Beyonce standing as JAY-Z looks on from a chair, against the backdrop of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Equals Pi. Another pic features the rapper lovingly stroking his wife’s face. The last photo has Jay-Z looking at the camera and hugging Beyoncé, as the singer shows off her exposed back while wearing the priceless necklace.
“ABOUT LOVE,” Beyoncé captioned the shots, tagging the jewelry brand.
In the campaign photos, the Lemonade artist wears a curve-hugging black gown with mesh opera gloves and her honey blonde hair pulled into a parted updo. Meanwhile, JAY-Z looks incredibly dapper in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie.
Apart from the singer and the rappers incredible chemistry, what holds one’s attention in the pictures is the painting from Jean-Michel Basquiat’s private collection called Equals Pi reimagined in signature Tiffany Blue. Composed of mathematical equations and symbols, the piece is quintessential Basquiat. According to the release, it was included because art serves as a “common thread throughout the Carter’s love story” and the overarching Tiffany & Co. campaign.
However, despite the charm of the setup, the love, and the chemistry, it is the jaw-dropping Tiffany Yellow Diamond around Beyoncé’s neck that remains the star of this show.
