After rocking the New York Fashion Week, Gigi Hadid is raising temperatures at 2021 Met Gala.
The 26-year-old supermodel walked the 2021 Met Gala carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, in New York City, looking glamorous as ever. The 26-year-old model looked great in a sleek strapless black-and- white Prada gown with long black opera gloves. Gigi also pulled up her red hair into a high ponytail.
She stayed in line with the evening’s theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” wearing her fiery red hair up in a high, retro-inspired ponytail, which was accessorized with a black and crystal Prada brooch at the bottom.
As for the glam, Gigi opted for a soft neutral base, highlighting her eyes with baby blue eye shadow and winged liner. She completed her look with a diamond neck piece.
The model, who welcomed baby Khai with boyfriend Zayn Malik in September 2020, also opened up about how her life has changed.
“I mean she’s one [years old] next week and I just feel like I’ve been on momma duty. I’ve been at the farm with her every day in my sweatpants and in our matching messy buns,” she told Vogue on the carpet. “So I feel like tonight I’m showing her what it means to dress up and hone in and have balance. I think finding that in your life is really when you feel like you’ve stepped into womanhood and finding your boundaries, learning how to manage all of that is when you feel your best.”
For Harper’s Bazaar‘s August 2021 issue, Hadid shared that she kept multiple journals throughout her pregnancy journey.
“During my pregnancy, I had one journal that I called my good journal and one journal that I called my bad journal. They weren’t that literal, but one was more for the memories, for Khai,” she explained. “Maybe one day I’ll give her the bad journal just to be real about it.”
Hadid added that the so-called “bad journals” captured her “anxieties and days where I felt like, ‘Am I good enough to be a mom?’ “
“I didn’t want to feel guilty about feeling those things or writing those things down. I just liked the separation,” said Hadid. “I also have sketch pads where I’ll watercolor-sketch, and sometimes I end up writing there too. I write on the back of receipts and keep those in a notebook. I’m not particular about it, and my journals are everywhere around the house. I just pick up whichever one is closest to me and write.”
She also spoke about Malik’s relationship with her family. “At first he was like, ‘How do I get a word in edgewise?’” she started. “But now he is very comfortable. He speaks his mind.
While Gigi turned heads with her Barbie looks, Zayn Malik didn’t make it to the 2021 Met Gala.
Although fans hoped to see the new dad, the Met isn’t his thing. In an interview with GQ, Malik explained his reason.
“Now, it’s not something I would go to,” he said, via Just Jared. “I’d rather be sitting at my house, doing something productive, than dressing up in really expensive clothes and being photographed on a red carpet….To do the self-indulgent ‘Look at me, I’m amazing’ thing on the red carpet, it’s not me.”
