Katy Perry is back to her OG Katy’s signature dark hair after rocking some wigs and extensions over the years. On Wednesday, the pop star, 37, became the talk of the town as she debuted black hair at the 2021 CMAs red carpet in a custom Vivienne Westwood asymmetrical brown leather column dress and Vivienne Westwood jewelry. The look featured a corseted bodice, one shoulder, and a back slit, with a gorgeous layered pearl necklace from the same designer.
She completed her country awards show look with a smokey eye and radiant skin by Pat McGrath Labs makeup.
Perry was on hand to present alongside country stars Kelsea Ballerini, Darius Rucker, Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Trisha Yearwood, Russell Dickerson, Ingrid Andress, Scotty McCreery, Deana Carter and Lainey Wilson.
Her fellow American Idol judge Luke Bryan hosted the 55th annual award show.
The “Last Friday Night” crooner shared a series of pictures of her CMA outfit and behind-the-scenes footage of her black hair transformation on Instagram by hairstylist Rick Henry. Her fiance Orlando Bloom couldn’t help but comment.
“I just think it’s time to give them everything they want 🤷🏼♀️ #viviennewestwood#cmaawards” Katy Perry captioned the post. While her fans seemed to agree. “THE BLACK HAIR IS BACK,” one commenter wrote. Added another, “U LOOK AMAZING OMGGGG!!”
Orlando Bloom wrote “Finally” with a red heart emoji.
The simple comment caught the attention of fans. A few people teased the “Lord Of The Rings” actor by describing him as a “blackty stan,” while another fan pointed out that the Hollywood heartthrob has missed his wife’s black hair.
Katy Perry has rocked the same striking hair color several times over the past year, seemingly thanks to wigs and extensions, but this time, it’s much more permanent.
With the latest hair transformation and her past, fans are suspecting a new Katy Perry album.
A week ago, Perry posted on her Instagram that she will be releasing a new Christmas album which does in fact feature an album cover with her dark hair. During her first five albums, Perry had her iconic black hair, only making a small change in 2012 dying it blue and then back to black. Hence fans are associating this new hair change to reference something new to come.
