There are only a few couples who stand with each other through thick and thin. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are one of the best examples of those. This pair has seen it all, right from Dax’s addiction to his sobriety to Kristen’s not so sparky feeling on a first date. These two have stood strong against the test of time since 2007. While also earning the title of “Hollywood’s golden couple”.
2007: Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard first meet
The pair first met at a dinner party in 2007 where Bell felt “no sparks whatsoever,” as said by her in an interview with Today in 2019. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard had just gotten out of long-term relationships, with Kevin Mann and Briegh Morrison, respectively. Hence they weren’t so forward with each other.
“The one thing I remember is that he talked so much,” she said, adding that, she didn’t even know who he was at the time. They further met two weeks later at a Detroit Red Wings hockey game, and things finally started to hit off.
“When I met her and her friends, I was suspicious of their unbridled happiness,” Shepard told Good Housekeeping in a 2015 interview. “I thought, ‘Something stinks here; they’re in a cult.’ But slowly I began to see her positive way of looking at the world. She gives people the benefit of the doubt.”
Soon after three months of dating, the couple broke up. According to an interview with Harry Connick Jr., Bell told that their relationship was somewhat “toxic”. She said, “When we first met, we fell madly in love and I love the dramatic exit. There is nothing I crave more,”. She further said,” Three months into our relationship he was like: ‘You can’t leave anymore during fights. I’m not going to do that.”. Bell changed her behavior only after Dax pointed it out.
In 2017 Bell also mentioned this in an interview with POPSUGAR. She told how Dax made her realize what was happening in the relationship. “He sat me down and said, ‘I can’t have this right now. I think you’re wonderful, but I am still dating other people,'” she said. “And then I, like, liquefied and fell to the ground, but I felt incredibly respected that he had the b—- to tell me we weren’t in the same place.” Although Shepard realized that he made a mistake and returned to her after a few days.
