Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell or simply Billie Eilish is a 19-year-old American singer and songwriter. She was first noticed in 2015 when her song ‘Ocean Eyes’ started gaining attention on SoundCloud, a popular music streaming service. Eventually, the song was released by a subsidiary of Interscope Records known as Darkroom. The song was written in collaboration with her brother Finneas O’Connell whom she frequently writes music with and performs together in live shows. Her debut EP ‘Don’t Smile At Me’ was released on August 11, 2017, and ranked in the Top 15 charts in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia

Billie Eilish was born on December 18, 2001 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She is the daughter of actors Patrick O’Connell and Maggie Baird. She has an older brother, Finneas O’Connell who is a also a musician, record producer and actor himself and belongs to the band The Slightlys. Billie and her brother frequently make music together. Billie Eilish is of an Irish and Scottish descent.
Billie was homeschooled and sang in the Los Angeles Children’s Choir at the age of eight. Her parents were amateur musicians themselves and inspired Billie to be creative and express herself through art and music since an early age.
She started writing songs at the age of 11, taking inspiration from her elder brother, who was already writing, producing and performing music with his band. She also performed at talent shows since the age of eight, besides joining the Los Angeles Children’s Choir.
Billie Eilish started uploading her music on popular streaming service, SoundCloud along with her brother Finneas in 2015. She wrote a song titled ‘Finger’s Crossed’, recorded and uploaded it on SoundCloud. On November 18, 2015, Billie Eilish recorded her song ‘Ocean Eyes’ which would go on to fetch her recognition in the future. The song was written, mixed and produced by Finneas and Billie provided the vocals and the duo uploaded it on their SoundCloud in early 2016. There was a massive boom in the popularity of the song and it received more than several thousand streams in the first few weeks alone. In November 2016, a music video for the song was released which turned out to be another major success. It received more than 170 million streams on Spotify and was eventually was certified Platinum by the RIAA. It reached #84 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The popularity of the song fetched the attention of a lot of record labels and soon the track was released worldwide by Interscope Records’ subsidiary, Darkroom. It was an instant success and by the end of the year she released another single ‘Six feet Under’. The success of ‘Ocean Eyes’ led Billie to record four remixes of the song and she compiled and released them together as an EP titled ‘Ocean Eyes’. This was also a huge success.
In 2017, Billie Eilish released her single ‘Bellyache’ which was also written in collaboration with her brother. She also recorded a song named ‘Bored’ which featured in the official soundtrack of the Netflix series ’13 Reasons Why’. Eventually she released two more singles, ‘Watch’ and ‘Copycat’. She went on to release her debut EP ‘Don’t Smile At Me’ in August 11, 2017.
She has collabed with other famous American artists like Khalid whom she worked with on her track ‘Lovely’. This song was also featured in the second season of the series ’13 Reasons Why’.

In an interview with GQ in its July/August issue, Billie Eilish admitted to being single.
