Ezra Matthew Miller is an American actor who lit the fire of their career by starring in the Lynne Ramsay directed 2011 drama “We Need to Talk About Kevin” and now stars as the speedster superhero Flash in DC’s Extended Universe (DCEU). They are known to play quirky characters with humour in many teen flicks and a few years back, they also became a part of the Fantastic Beasts series. Their upcoming projects include his DC character’s solo film, “The Flash”.
Early Life & Childhood
Ezra Matthew Miller was born in Wyckoff New Jersey. Ezra’s mother, Marta Miller, is currently working as a contemporary dancer while their dad, Robert S. Miller, worked as the senior vice president and managing director of the famous publishing company, Hyperion Books. After which he went on to work as a publisher himself at Workman Publishing. They were born alongside two sisters who are older than them, Saiya Miller and Caitlin Miller. Ezra Miller is of mixed descent as their mother is of German-Dutch origin while their father is Jewish.
When Ezra Miller was 6-year-old, they started to train and sing at an opera to help get rid of their speech impediment. They have performed at the famous Metropolitan Opera in New York, and also sang at the American premiere of the Philip Glass opera titled “White Raven”. In 2012, Ezra Miller came out as queer, and they have also addressed the complexity of their identity. They informed the Daily Beast by stating that “The way I would choose to identify myself wouldn’t be gay. I’ve been attracted mostly to ‘shes’ but I’ve been with many people and I’m open to love whatever it can be.”
Miller also uses the pronouns they/them and have also told GQ Britain that they don’t like the concept of being gendered. “I don’t identify as a man. I don’t identify as a woman. I barely identify as a human,” they informed the magazine.
